Screenshot of the database with the filters and keyword search functions in red boxes. Please note that this database is for searching which directories are in the Sutro Library’s holdings and is NOT a database for searching for specific names found in those directories. What happens when you do is that keyword search will be cleared so you will only see results related to your filtered search. Unfortunately, you cannot do vice versa, that is, a keyword search and then apply filters to those results. Or you can search by the filters first and then do a keyword search to narrow those results. To search this database, you can do so in a few ways: by keyword in the search box on the right (we recommend searching the city of interest) or by the filters on the left-hand side which include state, type (white or yellow pages), and date. Screenshots of where to find the new database on our Genealogy page. Screenshot of the Telephone Directories on Microfiche database. Screenshot of Sutro Library’s Genealogy Webpage showing where to find the Telephone Directories on Microfiche in a red box. The database can be found in multiple places on the website: 1) directly via this link: 2) via the Sutro Library’s genealogy webpage under the Online Resources tile or 3) in the listing of all of the California State Library’s online resources under the “T” section. For the states we do have completely recorded, the database includes information on the title of the directory (often the city or county is represented here), year of publication, type (yellow or white pages), and some entries include a notes field detailing communities that are included in that directory. We hope to have the next batch of 10 states available soon so make sure to check back often if you don’t yet see your area of interest. Other states may be listed in the database when they share borders with these first 10, but their holdings are not yet complete. Geographic regions include: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, and Florida. The first batch of states have been finished and ready for users to search. There are, however, certain circuits that benefit from PNP-type transistors, that would be difficult if not impossible to implement without this second type of transistor. Adding on to this advantage is the fact that NPN transistors are also easier, and thus cheaper, to manufacture than PNP transistors. This presents a huge advantage in high-speed switching and amplifier circuits applications. This is due to the fact that the “N” substrate can transfer electrons significantly faster than “P” type substrates can transport positive electron holes. There are, in fact, some differences, and in most circuit design applications NPN transistors are preferred. While PNP and NPN sensors do the same basic job, you might wonder why one would be used over another. Whereas in a PNP configuration, the load is wired between the collector and ground. Also, the load you’re controlling is wired between a positive voltage and the controlling transistor’s collector in an NPN configuration. PNP transistors (sometimes called "sourcing sensors") performs the same job, but is set up so that a negative voltage must be applied to the base pin to allow current to flow from the emitter to the collector lead. Above a certain point a transistor reaches saturation, allowing electrons to flow freely. This proportional current flow occurs in an active range, but below a certain cutoff voltage no current flows. NPNsįrom a practical standpoint, NPN transistors (sometimes called "sinking sensors") amplify a positive signal applied to the base by allowing a larger current to flow from the collector to emitter pins of the device, proportional to the base voltage. While both have the ability to amplify signals or even act to switch larger currents on and off, they accomplish this signal boosting ability in different ways. I have tried running the game in compatibility mode and as an Administrator, I have disabled the Windows Game Bar, and I have enabled DirectPlay under Windows legacy components. I have tried all combinations of in-game graphics and audio settings to no avail. I have made sure that my Windows audio settings are 16Bit 44.1KHz, and that all driver enhancements are disabled. To better understand this process and morphs in general, you need to understand the terms below: Beyond that, mutated genes (aka alleles) are usually associated with morphs that can then be passed onto offspring. While some morphs are a result of random mutations, many are made through purposeful selective breeding.īefore you get to breeding your leopard geckos, you need to understand some basic genetics.įor one, each leopard gecko has two copies of each gene within its DNA.Ī parent supplies each copy. Final thoughts What is a leopard gecko morph?Ī leopard gecko morph displays a variation in color, pattern, or any other physical trait. To keep everything as it should be, it is best to have separate terrariums for each species. They require different environmental factors, but different species also don’t mix so well together in such a small space. If you own other reptiles, you should never house them together. You could cause premature breeding, or the larger geckos may torment the smaller ones. It would be best if you never had geckos of drastic size differences together in the same container. It’s best to keep only females or one male with females to keep everyone safe. However, if you want to keep more than one, you will need to make sure that you’re not keeping males together as they tend to be territorial. You can house more than one leopard gecko at a time. Whether it’s a hollow log or little hut, they will appreciate the privacy. It’s important to give them a space that they can spend in total darkness. You can offer safe plants to keep oxygen fresh, branches for your gecko to climb, and hides for them to slip off into. You can dress your terrarium up like a wild paradise for your gecko. Overhandling can lead to your leopard gecko getting stressed out, which can cause them to get sick.Īlso, even though they make ideal pets for kids, they need respect while handling. However, it would help if you didn’t handle them for too long at a time. They are the type of reptile that you can handle daily. They are non-aggressive, not known for biting or acting skittish. Because they aren’t frisky or fast, they work very well for smaller children because they won’t run off of their hands to escape. Leopard geckos tend to be very mild-tempered creatures. With the cage, cage components, food, and cost of your leopard gecko, you can expect to start the total price to fall around $250. They need particular resources to cater to their instinctual needs and mimic their natural environment. Though that may make you feel very relieved, they are by no means cheap to own. If you buy one from a breeder or pet shop, you can expect to pay an average of $30. One huge perk of owning a leopard gecko is that they’re a semi-inexpensive lizard to care for after initial start-up costs. As long as you have the proper nutrition, cage additives, heat sources, and aquarium size, you should be good to go. If you keep one in captivity, their environment will need to reflect their natural habitat. They are nocturnal ground-dwellers that spend their most active time venturing at night. But the second that Felicity walked in, I became invisible.” He sort of just looked at me and then was warm and wonderful. I hate silence, so when I met him I just basically vomited forth information about Stephen Hawking to Stephen Hawking. By this point I had spent months researching him. “When I was lucky enough to meet Stephen, I had an hour to myself with him,” Redmayne recounted. As Marsh’s film makes very clear, Hawking is a ladies’ man (despite his affliction, his automatic systems aren’t affected) - a fact Redmayne was more than happy to address. “The Theory of Everything” is light on science and heavy on romance by tracking the complicated relationship with Hawking’s first wife, Jane Wilde ( Felicity Jones), who Hawking leaves over the course of the film for his nurse, whom he later married. The talk wasn’t all grandstanding however. “It was like training for a marathon,” he said of the experience, which prompted a woman at my table to mutter, “Wow.” In “ The Theory of Everything,” directed by Oscar-winner James Marsh (“Man On a Wire,” “Project Nim”), the actor undergoes a startling physical transformation to play renowned astrophysicist Stephen Hawking, who suffers from a debilitating motor neuron disease that renders him speechless. Redmayne revealed in a post-lunch discussion, moderated by “The Hours” director Stephen Daldry, that he took a whopping four months to prep physically for the performance by meeting with ALS specialists and working with a dancer. Thankfully for Redmayne, he also has a great performance to tout. After learning that I pursued acting before becoming a journalist, Redmayne recounted the time he flubbed his audition for the role of Bilbo Baggins in “The Hobbit” trilogy by putting on an affected voice and a bad experience as a waiter at the British equivalent of the Daytime Emmy Awards. Shortly after sitting down at The Lotos Club in the Upper East Side, a beaming Redmayne launched into conversation, professing his admiration for Indiewire (no joke), telling me that he was “gagging” to see “Interstellar” and “Birdman,” and that he loved “99 Homes,” which stars his “best friend” Andrew Garfield. The “Theory of Everything” star was in his element at Tuesday’s posh luncheon for the Focus Features’ Oscar hopeful, wining and dining with the Academy and charming members of the press (myself included). For up-and-coming British actor Eddie Redmayne, that clearly isn’t the case. Just ask Michael Fassbender or Mo’Nique, both of whom famously opted out of schmoozing their way to the Academy Awards (they earned nominations regardless for “12 Years a Slave” and “Precious,” respectively - Mo’Nique even won). Campaigning for a little golden statue during film awards season isn’t for every actor. When you spawn, the village is right in front of you, out of sight - just keep walking straight ahead. Considerable evidence exists that the visual cells of the retina, that is, the rods and cones, also serve as light receptors controlling pupillomotor activity. The pupillary light reflex arc begins in the retina ( Figure 58.1). The iris dilator fibers contain α-adrenergic sympathetic receptors that respond to changes in sympathetic tonus and changes in the blood level of circulating catecholamines. The size of the pupil is controlled by the activities of two muscles: the circumferential sphincter muscle found in the margin of the iris, innervated by the parasympathetic nervous system: and the iris dilator muscle, running radially from the iris root to the peripheral border of the sphincter. Record these data so that they are easy to read and recall. Next, look at the amount of pupillary constriction that occurs when the patient is forced to focus on a near object, such as a thumb held 15 to 20 cm above the eyes. Slowly move the light up to the patient's eye level and check the pupillary response to the bright light on each side several times. To assess pupillary size in a darkened room, illuminate the face from below. For the same reasons, try not to startle or touch patients with your hands or instruments, as psychosensory stimulation induces mydriasis, hippus, and relatively hyperactive pupils. Patients should be encouraged to fixate visually on a distant object, because if they inadvertently look at your nose or the flashlight, the attempt to converge will reflexly evoke miosis, and certain signs may be overlooked (e.g., anisocoria, light-near dissociation, or a subtle Marcus Gunn sign. Because these phenomena are best tested with the pupils in a semidilated state, clinical observations should be made in a dimly lighted room. The examiner first must check the size, shape, equality, and position of the pupils, and their response to a bright light. To preserve tab order and to make it easier for screen readers to read your documents, use a logical heading order and the built-in formatting tools in Word. To check that the order of headings is logical, visually scan your document's table of contents. Blank cells in a table could also mislead someone using a screen reader into thinking that there is nothing more in the table. If a table is nested within another table or if a cell is merged or split, the screen reader loses count and can’t provide helpful information about the table after that point. Screen readers keep track of their location in a table by counting table cells. Visually scan your tables to check that they don't have any completely blank rows or columns. To ensure that tables don't contain split cells, merged cells, or nested tables, use the Accessibility Checker.
